Private Pilot Course - PPL(H)

Course Overview

  • Total Flight Time - Minimum 45 hours of flying in one type of helicopter
      • Of which 5 hours must be Simulated Instrument Flying
      • Maximum of 5 hours of the minimum may be flown in the simulator
        And 10 hours must be supervised solo flying
        • Of which 5 hours must be cross country flying to include landings at 2 other airfields at least 100nm apart
  • Pass 7 multiple choice exams
  • Pass a practical Radio Telephony exam
  • Pass a JAA Class 2 Medical
We strongly recommend the R44 for Private Pilot training.

Modular Commercial Pilot Course - CPL(H)

Course Overview

Pre Entry Requirements

  • Hold an ICAO PPL(H)
  • Have 155 hours in helicopters
  • Have passed the ATPL(H) or CPL(H) gound exams
Course Content
  •    30 hours dual instruction in one type of helicopter
    • To include 10 hours Simulated Instrument Flying
  • 5 hours Night flying (waived if Night Qualification held)

Type Ratings


We offer R22, R44, Bell 206 and AS355 type ratings.

Single engine courses generally take 5 hours, initial twin engine courses take 8 hours.
You need 70hrs P1 to start a twin engine type rating.

Night Qualification


Pre entry requirements
    100 hours since PPL issue
