Trial Lessons
A lot of schools regard trial lessons as a necessary evil to boost revenue. It couldn't be more different here - at Cotswold we relish them, because we know from experience that we are quite often realising a lifelong dream to fly a helicopter.
Our trial lessons consist of a one to one briefing with your instructor, which will take approximately twenty minutes and will cover the effects of the major flight controls and a safety briefing.
Then it's out to the helicopter, your instructor will talk you through the start up procedures and will take off. Once leveled out at around 1,500ft over the Cotswolds, he will hand the controls over to you and then its up to you to fly it! At the instructors discretion, he will demonstrate various manoevers such as high altitude hovering and autorotations (helicopter gliding!). Where possible, the route covered is to suit you and so can include seeing your house from the air.
Once back at the airfield, there is usually time to have a go at one of aviations greatest challenges - the hover! For this section of the flight your family or friends will be able watch as you battle the machine.
All the flying time on your trial lesson counts towards your PPL course, should you wish to take things further.
We also offer simulator trial lessons in our CAA certified FNPT2 simulator. These are available to all ages (but should be tall enough to see over the instrument panel!) and can cover anything from a trip to the Lake District to a flight through the Welsh mountains. The format follows that of the trial lesson in the real helicopter but has an obvious cost benefit as well not being weather dependent.Prices
Vouchers can be delivered by email for you to print out or can be posted by either first class or special delivery.
Prices include VAT and landing fees. Discovery Days include landing away at another airfield and a total of 2 hours flying time broken into 2 or 3 flights. Full Terms & Conditions
Pleasure Flying
For those who would rather just enjoy the spectacular views from helicopters, we carry out pleasure flying from Kemble, using our Bell Jet Ranger and Robinson R44 helicopters.
Vouchers for these flights can be purchased online at HH Helicopters and you can either book a whole helicopter or individual seats.
Where you book the whole aircraft, the flight can take place on any suitable date. Flights for individual seats will take place on certain dates throughout the year, typically at weekends.
